Kentucky Avoiding Umass

http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/news/story?id=2877223

As a Kentucky fan, I am not pleased that Kentucky is buying out of their contract to play in Boston this coming season against Umass. It would have been a very competitive game that would have been a good early test for Kentucky. I don't know why they want to get out of the contract but I think it hurts Umass and a bigger school like Kentucky should not duck away from a smaller school. I am also a Xavier fan and am frustrated because this just shows how hard it is for a good small conference school to play bigger schools in the non-conference schedule. Xavier has been lucky of late, getting schools like Illinois, Kansas State, and having a natural rivalry with UC. Illinois did not back out of their contract to play in Cincinnati this season even though they knew Xavier would be very good and that they may lose the game. Being a fan of Kentucky I always loved the fact that they would always play a tough non-conference schedule but today I am very displeased that they are screwing over a small conference team like Umass. Don't duck away Kentucky, take the early season test with Umass and be a better team because of it.
